Find the dividend evidence in an SEC filing
Learn where schedules and financial facts come from, and why an original filing is worth opening.
SEC filings are documents submitted by issuers and other filers. Hosting a document on EDGAR does not mean the SEC has endorsed the company, verified every statement, or recommended its securities.
Start with the right company
Match the legal issuer, CIK, ticker, and share class. A company can have several securities with different distribution rights. A dividend announced for one class must not automatically be assigned to every listing associated with the same company.
On USYieldHub, the listing URL uses a stable database identifier and the page displays the company CIK. Those identifiers help keep company-level financial statements separate from security-specific dividend events.
Look for an explicit schedule
An 8-K or its earnings-release exhibit may state the dividend amount and dates. Periodic reports can also include dividend announcements. Locate the paragraph or schedule that connects the amount, security, and relevant dates.
A period’s “dividends per share” XBRL fact does not by itself establish an individual payment event. Likewise, an annual cash-flow statement can report the total cash dividends paid without listing each ex-dividend date.
Read the reporting context
For a financial value, confirm the unit and period start and end. A figure in a second-quarter filing may cover six months rather than the standalone second quarter. Comparative values may refer to an earlier year even though they appear in a recent filing.
Repeated appearances of the same historical fact are not separate cash flows. Amendments and later comparative presentations can change a value or add context. USYieldHub selects the latest eligible filing for an exact tag and period rather than adding repeated facts together.
What to include in a correction request
Send the page URL, ticker, disputed field, and a link to the supporting filing to contact@usyieldhub.com. Include the relevant reporting period or payment date so that we can identify the record. Please do not send brokerage credentials or account statements.
